Acclaimed contemporary choir to rock Chester Cathedral this summer

Chester Cathedral is set to welcome an uplifting and exhilarating performance by the UK’s favourite contemporary  Rock choir this summer.

The nationally acclaimed Rock Choir will give a performance titled ‘The Choir that Rocks Live’ to Chester audiences this July.

Choir Leader Kathryn Davies said: “I have been running Rock Choir across Cheshire for six years now and am always looking for new experiences for my choirs. My choirs are in Knutsford, Sandbach, Warrington and Chester, so am really looking forward to bringing my choir members to Chester Cathedral this July.

“Every two years we do a big show and this year I wanted to find somewhere that was a bit different and give them a new experience in performing. It is a real honour to conduct my choirs at the cathedral and I can’t wait to hear what 250 voices sound like in there. 470 in total over 2 nights.”

Over two evenings Rock Choir will perform a selection of fun, upbeat, feel-good songs with their repertoire spanning from the 70s to present day.

Rock Choir has over 20,000 members in more than 300 local communities nationwide and offers an alternative experience to the traditional classical or community choir, pioneering a new approach to vocal training and entertainment by performing rock and pop chart songs.

Vice Dean Canon Peter Howell-Jones said: “We’re very much looking forward to welcoming Rock Choir in July. Music has always been an integral part of daily life in the cathedral and the Rock Choir’s modern repertoire will bring a fresh perspective of music culture.”

Rock Choir will perform at Chester Cathedral on Friday 8 July and Saturday 9 July at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £15 each and can be booked via the Chester Cathedral Box Office at 01244 500 959 or online
