Did you know there’s an app where you can report city maintenance issues to the council? Neither did I!

Did you know there’s an app where you can report city maintenance issues to the council? Neither did I!

4th March 2021

I’ve recently started using Cheshire West and Chester Council’s ‘Report It’ app and it’s a revelation! I’ve reported: an uprooted bollard, a broken foot pedal on a smart bin, and a bin overflowing with bags of dog poo. I know…don’t be jealous, I am in indeed living the dream! 🤣

My husband’s on the verge of refusing to walk with me as I am now a Report It nerd 😅 Every time I see something that needs sorting I shout maniacally “REPORT IT!”

The App is easy to use, takes less than 1 minute to send a report on your phone. Once you’ve reported it you can check the status in the reports log on the app. You can even attach photos which is really handy. Here’s a little video to show you how it works.

I know the council are charged with maintaining the city, but we live in world where if there is no record it’s as if it didn’t happen. This app helps residents like me to take more ownership of our city’s maintenance in an easy and trackable way so the council can take action.

Chester BID is encouraging residents and businesses to download the app and report issues such as:
• problems with roads E.g. potholes, street lighting
• fly tipping
• dog fouling
• full bins

We’re on the verge of being allowed to meet up again and encourage visitors back to our city. Using this app can help to make sure the city is presented in the most beautiful way possible for us all to enjoy. Just type Cheshire West & Chester in the search bar wherever you get your apps.
