Egg-citing FREE Easter activities in Chester

Egg-citing FREE Easter activities in Chester

A three-week festival of free Easter activities will be landing in Chester city centre from Good Friday (25th March) to bring the high street alive over the holidays, brought to you courtesy of CH1ChesterBID

Family-friendly events will be taking place every day up until Sunday 17 April, starting with a city-wide Easter egg trail where children are challenged to find ‘eggs on pegs’ hidden in city centre stores for the chance to win an annual family pass to Chester Zoo.

This year’s Easter programme also includes Jungle Jim’s Animal Roadshow with bunnies, chicks, snakes and lizards on show for children to see and feel. The animal-theme continues with the  Lord of the Wings returning to the city this year with a spectacular birds of prey display.

Following a string of sell-outs in 2015, the Grosvenor Museum will again be transformed into a mini cinema over the holidays, showing family-favourite movies such as ‘The Zookeeper’, ‘Rise of the Guardians’ and ‘Winnie the Poo: Springtime with Roo’.

“Children and families looking for something free and fun to do this Easter will be spoilt for choice in Chester city centre,” said Julie Charlton, Marketing Manager for the city’s Business Improvement District – CH1ChesterBID.

“Because of the way the holidays have fallen this year, we’ve taken the decision to put on a three-week calendar of activities to ensure there’s something for everyone. Every day there will be at least one activity taking place on the high street, and when you complement that with the range of retailers, restaurants and other things to see and do in the city centre, it’s the perfect place for families to spend some time this Easter. We can’t wait to get cracking!”

There will also be regular appearances from The Zookeeper & His Fabulous Flamingo Friend and Nutkins The Cheeky Squirrels over the three weeks to add extra animation to the high street.

Alice and the Mad Hatter will make a special appearance on Friday 8 April to entertain crowds with silly shenanigans and free Easter basket bike rides for children.

Other CH1ChesterBID Easter activity includes an online Easter quiz with a chance to win £100 in city centre retail vouchers and a ‘guess the number of eggs in the jar’ competition at The Old Sweet Shop on St Werburgh Street.
