Chester Philharmonic Concert

Chester Philharmonic Concert

The first concert of Chester Philharmonic’s new season actually completes last season’s theme.

It is the fifth in the ‘High Five’ concert series with a performance of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony. This work’s fourth movement, the well known ‘Adagietto’, featured in Visconti’s film “Death in Venice” is arguably Mahler’s best known music. You will also hear music by Schreker and Ponce. Both these early twentieth century contemporaries of Mahler write exquisite and tuneful music and we will be privileged to hear our special guest the international soloist Craig Ogden’s interpretation of Ponce’s Concierto del sul which the composer dedicated to Segovia.

Conductor – Stephen Trelfall
