Royal Party Celebrations in Chester

To mark Her Majesty The Queen‘s 90th birthday Cheshire West and Chester Council, CH1ChesterBID, along with Theatre in the Quarter and community groups from across the borough are hosting a party in Chester city centre on Sunday 12 June from noon to 3.30pm.

The event will begin with an elaborate ceremony to open ornate gates placed for the occasion at Eastgate Clock.

Performed by Chester’s own Roman soldiers at noon, the ceremony will be filled with drums and chanting and will provide a unique and historic moment to commemorate our sovereign’s special day.

Following this unique ceremony, party goers will be invited to process with The Lord of Mayor of Chester to Town Hall Square.

Accompanied by City of Chester Brass Band the procession will go straight to the square where the public can enjoy their own picnic while listening to entertainment by the City of Chester Male Voice Choir, The Chester Ladies Choir, Chester Rock Choir, Frodsham Manor House Primary School and their special young visitors from Ghana, A Handbag of Harmonies and Dee Sign Choir.

For a fabulous and fitting event finale, Theatre in the Quarter’s Matt Baker, joined by adult and school choirs, will lead a parade along Northgate Street onto Eastgate Street. On arrival at Eastgate Street party goers will be taken on a musical journey through the Queen’s reign performed by 150 children from across the borough, followed by one of Matt Baker’s famous singalongs for both participants and audience.
