Excitement builds as city centre prepares for ‘Chester Unlocked’

Chester Unlocked, a groundbreaking heritage project that will put the history of Chester on public display like never before is launching in the city centre on Saturday 13th June with a real owl display and other family friendly activity.

Chester Unlocked has been developed by CH1ChesterBID in partnership with Big Heritage and is expected to attract thousands of extra visitors to the city centre.

“We’re confident that our BID members, city visitors and local residents will all be delighted with everything Chester Unlocked has to offer,” said Rita Waters, CH1ChesterBID Chief Executive.

“All will be revealed very soon, but we will have a programme of activity that allows the public to experience Chester’s cultural history and heritage yet at the same time champions the diverse mix of city centre retailers that make our city such a vibrant destination.”

Dean Paton, Managing Director of Big Heritage, added: “We’re bringing history to the masses with Chester Unlocked and the excitement is really building ahead of the public launch.

“The programme of activity will appeal to people of all ages – children will get a fun and engaging taste of Chester’s history and adults will be enchanted with the celebration of the city’s rich and hidden history. We can’t wait for it to start!”

Just last month, drones fitted with cameras were seeing flying inside and around some of the city’s most recognisable historic landmarks and buildings in preparation for Chester Unlocked. A raft of spectacular footage of the city has been uncovered from the filming and will be used to support the project.

More details on Chester Unlocked will be revealed next week but if you can’t wait that long, visit www.chesterunlocked.com for more details.
