Cheshire West and Chester Council have worked with Stagecoach Bus to introduce contactless payments on the city’s Park and Ride buses.

Cllr Louise Gittins, Leader of Chester West and Cheshire Council, said “Taking the low emission Park and Ride buses into the heart of the city, is now even easier with hassle free Contactless payments. You can buy all-day return tickets using Contactless, which also entitles children under 16 years to travel for free, with you. Park and Ride tickets will also soon be available on the new Park and Ride App which will offer a wide range of saver and flexible tickets on the go.”

Park and Ride  has also teamed up with city centre partners Storyhouse, Debenhams and Chester Roman Tours this autumn, offering family giveaways and some great festive offers over the coming weeks.

Paul Harston, Director of the  Roman Tours, said “ It’s great working with the Park and Ride service helping to launch their contactless payments, which is about bringing the past and the future together, the old and the new. We want to encourage families to leave their cars outside the city, get on the bus and help reduce our city centre emissions. The historic Roman Tours are about conservation and learning and maintaining Chester’s historical heritage. By taking the Park and Ride buses families, visitors and commuters can all help to reduce congestion and help the environment”

Storyhouse is also partnering with the Park and Ride service to promote the new Shaun the Sheep movie and launch Peter Pan over the coming weeks.

Jen Chapman, Head of Sales and Marketing  for Storyhouse, added: “It’s a great travel choice to take the family on the Park and Ride buses into the city centre, helping to reduce the amount of cars and congestion, and it’s a hassle-free way to travel to Storyhouse with the stop on George Street so close to the building. ”
