Preparations for a medieval puzzle-solving challenge got firmly underway this week when costumed characters arrived in Chester city centre to deliver treasure maps to local retailers.
The special delivery was arranged as part of Deva Codex Wolf Quest, a new citywide challenge that launches this Saturday (10 October) and invites visitors to crack a series of riddles and unlock a 2,000-year-old mystery.
“We’ve had a number of historical characters out in force this week to help us deliver Deva Codex Wolf Quest bags throughout the city,” said Julie Charlton, Marketing Manager at CH1ChesterBID Company.
“The bags contain everything the public need to tackle the free Wolf Quest challenge when it launches this weekend and they’ll be available at various locations including the Visitor Information Centre and in selected retailers.
“It’s a medieval-themed treasure challenge that encourages people to explore some of the city’s hidden and haunted history and everyone that completes it is in with a chance of winning up to £300 in retail vouchers.”
The Wolf Quest is the second instalment in a trilogy of free citywide mystery quests from Chester Unlocked, the history and heritage project created by CH1ChesterBID and Big Heritage.
This latest instalment challenges Chester city centre visitors to solve a series of medieval riddles, which can be found by following a specially created map that will lead visitors to different locations and clues in the city centre.
People can take part any time between 9am and 5pm (Mondays to Saturdays) and 11am and 4pm (Sundays) and the challenge is available until Saturday 31 October.
