CH1ChesterBID, in partnership with Storyhouse, has brought back the festive attraction, Storytelling with Santa
With a free Gingerbread biscuit and Chester Christmas Passport, the tickets are in high demand after tickets sold out in just a matter of days in 2018
A very special guest can be spotted at Storyhouse throughout December, accompanied by his Christmas elves and plenty of festive spirit.
Thanks to a continued partnership between CH1ChesterBID, the city’s Business Improvement District, and Storyhouse; Father Christmas will be returning to the cultural hub in the heart of Chester city centre.
The ‘Storytelling with Santa’ attraction – which will also adopt the citywide gingerbread theme this year – officially launched on Saturday, November 30, and will run every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until December 22, with some sessions already sold-out.
Children can join Santa in the North Pole Storytelling Room, a winter wonderland perfect for a magical Christmas story experience. Santa’s elves are on stand-by to help little ones write their own Christmas passport, as part of a city-wide initial to collect stamps. There are also free gingerbread biscuits for every child.
Emily Ghazarian, Events Manager at CH1ChesterBID, said: “Our festive campaigns are always citywide and this year is no different as we’ve been working with lots of different businesses and partners to bring Christmas to the city.
“We are so pleased that we were able to continue our partnership with Storyhouse to bring back this attraction for another year and we can’t wait to welcome more families into the city centre.
“Last year, tickets for Storytelling with Santa sold out quickly, and we are already seeing huge demand for 2019. As always, we are urging people to book their tickets early to make sure they don’t miss out!”
Following on from the past few years, CH1ChesterBID and Storyhouse have announced that they will again gift a number of sessions to local charities, including ChAPS and Space Chester.
There will be autism-friendly sessions on Sunday 1, 8, and 15 December, and Sunday, December 22 will see a British Sign Language interpreter at the session.
Alex Clifton, artistic director at Storyhouse, said: “Every year Storytelling with Santa is becoming bigger and better and we’re very pleased that we can build on that success with the support of CH1ChesterBID to deliver activities for another year.
“The attraction is always a fun and festive way to get families into the city centre to enjoy the build-up to Christmas and we want as many children as possible to take part. We always aim to make these sessions as inclusive and accessible as possible to residents and visitors of Chester so we hope lots of people will get to experience it.”
Storytelling with Santa will run until December 22nd at Storyhouse on Hunter Street. Running on Saturdays (10.30am – 5.30pm) and Sundays (11am – 4pm), and during the week on Thursdays (1pm – 6pm) and Fridays (1pm – 7pm).
