Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor Named one of UK’s Best Restaurants

The prestigious Good Food Guide unveiled its 2019 list of the UK’s 50 best restaurants and the Michelin-starred Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor has been ranked in 36th place.

The Waitrose and Partners annual guide recognises the best food and drink establishments across the UK, which are ranked by a cooking score, editor appraisal and feedback from readers. This year, Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor has earned a top spot due to its reputation for attention to detail, innovation and exemplary culinary skills.

The restaurant has retained a Michelin star since 1990 – an achievement matched by only a handful of UK establishments. Simon joined the team at The Chester Grosvenor in 1986 and apart from a few years gaining experience in London, has been at the helm of the operation for over 20 years. His food is influenced by French classics with a contemporary twist.

Simon Radley comments: “It’s an honour to be listed as one of the UK’s best restaurants. As ever, this is a team effort and this accolade is a testament to the tireless hard work and dedication of everyone involved to ensure we deliver consistently high standards. With such a high calibre of restaurants in the country today, it’s a huge achievement to be recognised on a national scale.”

A firm advocate of growing talent from within, Simon launched the ‘Simon Radley Kitchen Academy’ in 2013 to cultivate a new generation of innovative chefs.  Now in its fifth year, the Academy accepts 10 candidates each year, allowing them a unique opportunity to earn while they learn under the guidance of Michelin starred chefs with considerable opportunities for education, training and personal development.

The restaurant has catered for high profile guests over the years, including senior members of the Royal Family.
