The Chester Grosvenor named ‘Business of the Year’

The Chester Grosvenor’s string of success continues as it is named ‘Business of the Year’ at the Cheshire Business Awards on Friday 12th October. Held at Chester Cathedral, the hotel fought off tough competition from Travel Innovation Group and national travel business Sykes Holiday Cottages.

The Cheshire Business Awards welcomed some of the most respected businesses in the region, demonstrating the exceptionally high level of quality competition that Cheshire boasts. The award itself recognises The Chester Grosvenor as an outstanding business demonstrating great vision, leadership and tangible results, with policies supporting staff development, engagement and satisfaction.

In the past ten months alone, there have been a string of accolades added to The Chester Grosvenor’s bow, including launching the city’s only Champagne bar through a £350k redevelopment of ‘La Brasserie’. In addition, Simon Radley at The Chester Grosvenor has been repeatedly recognised as one of the finest restaurants in the UK, getting placed in the ‘Top 50’ Good Food Guide 2019 and retaining its Michelin star for the 29th consecutive year, making it one of only a handful of UK restaurants to hold a star for such an extensive period of time.

General Manager Richard Grove comments: “We’re so proud to have been recognised as one of the best businesses in the region. We’re privileged to have such diverse, talented colleagues who thrive on a challenge and share a passion for The Chester Grosvenor brand. This accolade is testament to the tireless dedication and hard work of the team.”

The business boasts a significant number of team members who have grown and developed within the hotel, namely through the Simon Radley Kitchen Academy, which recruits 10 young and aspiring chefs on an apprenticeship scheme every year. These talented chefs earn whilst they learn, working shoulder to shoulder with some of the best in business.  Taking the success of the Simon Radley Kitchen Academy, The Chester Grosvenor is also rolling apprenticeships out in Facilities Management, Front of House and Food & Beverage to enable the business to ‘grow their own’ and promote within.

The hotel is currently recruiting for a Restaurant Manager for the 2AA Rosette La Brasserie restaurant, where the lucky candidate will be working alongside Head Chef Gareth Jones and Michelin starred Executive Chef, Simon Radley.

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service values, with a refined eye for detail in terms of presentation and delivery. They must have a background in exceptional service with a minimum of a year’s experience in a Restaurant Manager position in a quality establishment with fantastic food and beverage knowledge and/or WSET qualifications. Voted ‘Employer of the Year’ at last year’s Cheshire Business Awards, The Chester Grosvenor is renowned for being one of the most rewarding workplaces in the region.
